How this site handles your data
The short version
- No cookies, no ads, and no tracking across other sites.
- Two cookieless counters tell me which pages people read. Neither stores your IP address.
- If you email me, I use your message only to reply.
Who I am
This site is run by Nathan Massey, a technology consultant based in Kraków, Poland. I am the controller of the personal data described here. Contact me about anything in this notice at [email protected].
Visit counts
I count visits with two cookieless tools: Cloudflare Web Analytics, and Umami, which I host myself on a server in Germany (Hetzner Online GmbH). Neither sets cookies or stores your IP address. Your IP address is used only momentarily to estimate your country and, in Umami, to tell visits apart within a day.
What gets recorded: the page you viewed, the site that sent you, your country, and your browser and device type.
To opt out, visit nathanmassey.dev/#notrack once in your browser. Neither counter will load in that browser again; /#dotrack undoes it.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses and basic request information to deliver and protect it.
Email and booking
If you email me, your message is processed in my Proton Mail account (Proton AG, Switzerland) so I can reply. book.nathanmassey.dev forwards you to Cal.com, which handles bookings under its own privacy policy.
Why I process data
- Visit counts and hosting: my legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful and keeping the site available and safe (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Email: to answer you, including steps you ask for before a possible engagement (Art. 6(1)(b)), and otherwise my legitimate interest in replying (Art. 6(1)(f)).
How long I keep it
- Umami visit records: 2 years.
- Cloudflare analytics and hosting logs: as set by Cloudflare's standard retention.
- Emails: as long as our conversation or any resulting work needs them. Ask me and I'll delete yours.
Who else processes it
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the site and runs Cloudflare Web Analytics. It may process data in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) hosts the Umami server.
- Proton AG (Switzerland) provides my email.
I don't sell personal data or use it for advertising.
